 Sponsor | grade-A-bitch | Oct 7, 2006 6:42pm | | I noticed someone posted Shirts of Bamboo. I shop there, a lot. I've bought at least 8 for myself and then as gifts for friends. I can't tell you enough how amazing these shirts are. The texture is like cotton/silk blend. Although there is controversy it is not sustainable because they use a lot of chemicals producing the shirts, I counter argue that yes, while they use chemicals in production (so do all other materials) they are still better than cotton because 1) no pesticides in growing bamboo, 2) they mature in 5 years, so we can turn production of raw materials quickly, 3) they have been farming bamboo now for a while, instead of depleting natural resources, 4) they wick 30% faster than cotton, and 5) they dry 30% faster, so you save energy. Sorry it's so much information, but I thought I would share what I've learned. |
